diy: easter chick garland

I've had two packs of chenille easter chicks hanging around the tiny casa for three years now just waiting, waiting, waiting to be strung up for a march or april bed. Enter one very bad day in a bad brain kind of way and a million things to do and you get a very cranky jek craft, craft, crafting away at this. I made the entire garland in less than ten minutes and then realized I never took pictures of the april bed so I strung it up in zee bedroom instead of the living room and got all shutter happy.

This is super duper easy. Make sure your chickies have felt wings, otherwise you'll be threading your yarn or string into them and they will be flying away. The chenille used for the chicks is so fine and fluffy that there is not much to anchor it all together.

 

I looped off my yarn at both end, hung it up, then arranged the chicks. It's all seriously happy, is it not? I was worried the blue chicks would be a bit faded against the aqua wall but the wall is just green enough and the chicks are just blue enough it all works. Tomorrow is Easter so maybe on Monday you can score yourself a couple boxes of chickies on super sale. Enjoy!

scrumdilly style: day 7

 So here is the final day of my mini capsule. Items 5 and 6. I think I'm pulling some kind of peasant look but there ya go. I love the skirt and will be wearing it more often. The grey dress (ahem top) will be worn as well but probably only with jeans. I have pics of another mini capsule round to post as well along with two other cloud diys. I hope I can get back to some craftiness soon! Happy almost Earth Day!

where did this week go?

This was once of those weeks where I worked six days and lordy am I pooped! I did my usual school gig with an additional assistant day plus I taught a terrarium class and then we had an all day event in our little downtown plaza. Pooped I tell ya! So I'm just gonna sit back, post some photos and then enjoy a wee bowl of peanut butter ice cream before attempting to sleep without a pillow as my neck is still out from last week's conference excursion.

         Mostly I did a lot of standing. Standing in the classroom, standing in the yard, standing in the library as I taught my terrarium class, standing by the play pool, standing in the plaza. All kinds of standing and walking, and standing some more. Did I tell you how one of my kiddos photobombed me in my classroom as I was attempting a timer outfit shot? Oh my! The laughter! It turned into an impromptu photo shoot then dance party. My face hurt from cracking up so. Yup, this was a busy week and tomorrow I need to prep my classroom for the week...we're doing gardens and spring...it's going to be fun!

scrumdilly style: day 6

Day 6 was a good day. Woke up early enough to remember I wanted to go to the Farmer's Market. It was chilly and overcast and I loved it! I wore items 1, 7, and 8. This is an outfit I will wear again again...actually this is the second time I wore it...remixed...this time with oxfords, sweatshirt and scarf. Hmmm...does this count as a different outfit?

 I have to admit that this is probably my favorite of the bunch. Who knew an old lady house dress could cute up like this? Well...I knew but now you know! Here I am wearing items 1 and 4 with a remix of my nifty thrifted black skull Alegrias and all time favorite leggings that I fear are going to fall apart as they are more than fifteen years old. I'm heading out to a conference for three days and am of course packing an utlra-mini wardrobe. I won't be able to take pics while conferencing but I will try to do a fashion re-shoot for ya when I return. I will also really try to get to that darn pink room which I had gotten to sort of but then it kind of imploded all over again. As long as it is finished by August I will not freak out....too much.
