mister made me a dress!

We picked up this made by rae pattern when we were in Seattle visiting my friend Heath. We wandered into Drygoods Design and I about swooned over the gloriousness of it all. I left with two patterns and this was one of them.
I have had the sugarskull fabric for a few years. There wasn't enough to make an entire dress, so I opted for it to be the yoke. The bottom is an olive linen-like fabric we picked up in Reno at Mill End Fabrics. My aunt introduced it to us and we try to hit it up every time we visit her in Reno.
I've already worn it four or five different ways.  I've worn it as a summer tunic, with a lime green and navy striped top, and as a top with jeans, but this is my favorite.
The original pattern does not include pockets but since I do love a pocket, mister gallantly stitcjed me up a pair. Yup, he's a keeper!

fall capsule: day 7

It was a really hot day and I look frumpy but I was comfortable and the pieces are from the capsule...so there...

fall capsule: day 3

Day 3 of the capsule features a rust colored pencil skirt from Kohl's (Apt 9) and a black and white floral tee from Loft. The sweater is plum with a label from Grace. The shoes are my trusty crocs because my feet are sad...

fall capsule: day 2

Day 2 features an olive green shirt I picked up at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. The pants are from MArshalls and used to sport elastic ankles but I shopped them off as for so,me reason, when I walk, my left pants leg will ride up and these used to get stuck. They have pockets and an elastic waist and I so do not care if I sound like an old lady with my adoration...I love 'em! The grey sweater is from Loft and the shoes are crocs because I finally found a doctor willing to work with my sorry feet and I needed a new shoe to wear during the process and crocs have been recommended. Weirdly, they are super comfy and perfect for school since I spend so much time in various puddles of water and piles of sand. Phew!

a new capsule

A week or so ago, when I did laundry, I found that the tops hanging in the bathroom to air dry looked really good together...almost like they would make a good capsule...so when I took them down, I rifled through the dresser for some finishing pieces and voîla! a nifty mild summer capsule!

Thee are eleven pieces, two of which are sweaters so I'm not how much I would wear them, but everything is is super nifty...I think...

Top to Bottom:
chambray top from LOFT
navy linen top from LOFT
blush colored top from LOFT (I'm suspecting a theme here)
sleeveless blush top Vera Wang for Kohl's
sleeveless black & white top from Penneys
floral cardigan J Crew
bergundy 3/4 sleeve sweater from Marshall's
blush tulle skirt from Target
black & white plaid skirt Old Navy
denim capris Dana Buchman at Kohl's
chambray trousers The Gap

What do you think?

a week of Nicoles

monday: w leggings and cardigan
tuesday: w smock and leggings
wednesday: w madison and belt
thursday: w leggings, sweater, and boots
friday: w leggings, wrap top, and boots
The Nicole dress from Lularoe is really versatile. I'm not a consultant but I did get bit with the bug so have more than a few pieces of most styles. I like to wear the Nicole backwards for the higher neck. Since it was cold I paired it with leggings but when the weather is warmer, I wear it as it with flats.

getting gussied

I've been bitten by the Lularoe bug. Some prints are a bit kooky even for me...some styles are not my thing...but when the print is right, I'm all over it. I have spent a small fortune getting swept up in the mania but am s l o w l y coming out of it and fine tuning...I know, I know...I am always fine tuning my closet but this time...I promise it is coming together. Next year it WILL happen.

31 days of red, white, and blue is back!

Days 1-12...trying hard to not drop it this time and for the most part I'm playing with Lularoe pieces. Bottoms at least, the tops do not work for me but I do love me an Azure skirt!
