let's check out the 'do!
Howdy friends...I'm blogging from the land of ick as I work on getting better from this something that is more than a cold but less than a flu. Either way it is a bad virus...bad and phooey. I've never been good at evading sick icks. I have also not been very good at this thing we call blogging and so before another week or two passes without any bit of scrumdilly I thought I would share this lovely little kiddo gift I made for a wee friend of mine. Hope on over to the 'do! to see/read the details.

super trooper
I had no clue as to how the Girl Scouts worked and looking back as an adult I feel saddened that I didn't. What a neat organization chock-full of industry, spunk and craftiness, you know, save for the semi-exclusiveness of some of the troops. Though I wasn't an honest to goodness Girl Scout, I never earned a badge, we didn't have any time for it, I dabbled in the troopy arts. In first grade I was a Pixie and in Sixth, a Campfire Girl. I guess I had enough of the idea of the scouts in me that I tucked it all away in my heart and believed I would always be a scout. While my career as a scout of any kind wasn't long or productive, my mother was a troop leader or helper or something when my sister was a young one, and my sister was at the very least a brownie and when we were reunited many years after her disappearance she taught me the best thing she remembered...Magic Marshmallow Puffs.
I have vague memories of my seventeen year old self dipping something into melted butter and cinnamon. I remember there were marshmallows involved and that it was very, very tasty. I remember my sister and I flattening and tossing and laughing and baking all to the merry soundtrack of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. It was a great summer and it was the first time my sister and I got to know each other. Years later when I tried to reproduce that tasty treat, I got the order of everything all mixed up and ended up with a marshmallow something that to me was even tastier...hop on over to scrumdilly-do to see what kind of tasty mess I made.

naturally loopy
I'm no longer loopy via meds though I am still hopped up on mild painkillers. The darn tooth that needed work showed me no signs of needing work. It waited to reveal itself through an x-ray. Traitor! I have TMJ and all sorts of fun problems and that wonky wonky tooth was in the very back of my itty bitty mouth so the endo guy who needled me up with Novocain had to practically climb inside to get the job done. Now of course I am bruised and sore and puffy faced and sore and did I mention that my jaw and tooth and nose all hurt? Sheesh! What a pain. I've been living off of pudding, smoothies and ice cream sandwiches. Poor me. So, even if I'm not on the crazy drugs, I'm still loopy enough that I can't seem to pay attention to getting anything done and there is a whole lot that needs to get done so I am apologizing now as my brain hurts and my tooth is throbbing and I need to take a quick couch nap before I dazzle a soon-to-be birthday girl with a day trip of pastries (that I don't think I can eat) and thrift shopping. I'll clean the bathroom later. Here's some eye-candy for you. There's a contest going on over at scrumdilly-do for kidlets 9m-10y. Check it out!

Make a wee trinket box!
Come on! You know you want to! You can make them for friends or family or maybe make a few for yourself! Check out scrumdilly-do! for the tutorial! Methinks I need to make more!
Yesterday was an exhausting day. I never got to nap or clean but I did get to visit with granny and score a pair of sailor pants! Go me! I have been looking for denim sailor pants since I was 16! Seriuosly! I had a pair of authentic wool ones then but I really wanted denim. I adored the style of wide legged pants and secretly wanted to be Kathryn Hepburn. At least I wanted to be her when I didn't want to be Margaret O'Brien, Audrey Hepburn, Twyla Tharp, Edith Head or Shirley Maclaine. My mamos used to expound the virtues of old movies and musicals so much so that while all my other firends were at the pool swimming on a disgustingly hot day, I was home camped out on the sofa drinking a suicide soda (my favorite mix was coke, fruit punch and mountain dew) watching The Bluebird or An American In Paris. Once, at a Sweet 16 slumber party, I awoke early to discover that Lili was on The Family Film Festival and proceeded to wake the other girls so that we could all watch it. Sigh. I love Lili! But back to the pants! They are perfect with big buttons on the front and the fit my gifted thighs and aren't to shabby across the derriere. The best part was that they were on SALE! Whoo-hoo! So ladies, if you find yourself near a JC Penney and aren't a fashion snob check 'em out! They also have some adorable swingy style cap sleeve t-shirts in the Juniors department that I believe us not so teenagey ladies could pull off! Happy day before Valentine's Day! Today I get to laze in front of the television watching a weeks worth of cheesey shows. Tonight it is a Heart Day celebration with the Lucy Goose and Crooner boy..oh and I need to finish my jebots for the Robot Swap...yikes! BUSY!

friday, thank mawd
I cleaned off my kitchen table, I did, I swear it, but somehow magazines, colored pasta, cardboard suitcases, ribbon and mail moved in...sheesh! Every surface in this tiny home is covered with stuff. My stuff to be more precise. Mr. A-go-go is an organized person who does not acquire stuff and when he does he throws something else out and has a place especially for whatever it is he has acquired. He is an organized person, a linear thinker. Me? I'm all over the place both in my organization and my thinking. We can be driving in the car listenin' to the radio and the program could be Car Talk and somehow it will remind me of the man in the orange shoes I saw smoking a pipe by the bus stop. I can also hold four conversations at once, work on three zillion projects, write in three blogs, bake a batch of banana bread, hit the grocery store and do two loads of laundry all in the course of three hours. The husbandman will garden. It calms him. Pulling weeds and whacking off grasshoppers keeps his stress level low. I have a feeling that walking in the casa raises it. So I try. I try to clean. Sometimes it is in tiny bits and when I do, I make sure to point it out, thinking the clean table will gloss over all the other piles here and there and everywhere. If I don't manage to clear off one surface for the day, I do manage to make dinner and a batch of gingerbread. Gingerbread is his favorite. I'm sneaky like that.
Don't forget to check out scrumdilly-do! for some soupy fun and stay tuned for Monday when I celebrate Hat Day!
