Same pillowcases as last year. Maybe even the same bedding? I have no idea where that happy wreath is hiding and I looked or it. But then I saw that Target still had these snowflake ornaments half off and then again at 75% off so I scooped 'em all up. All season long I would see them and I would pick up the snowflakes, trees, and stars and then I would put them back because even though they were only $3 for two I could not justify the spend and of course, I couldn't just get one set so when I happened to be in the store and there happened to be a small clutter on sale I swooped in because they are perfect! Are they not?

The wreath and the bell garland were made by me (diy to follow) as well as the tp pillowcase. Eegads but I love that grey fabric. I also love, love, love the crocheted bedspread even if it has now kept me from my birthday blanket (drats!). I really wish I could wrap my head around crochet. I do. I just can't. I also wish I had some mad skills to offer up to someone for a swap....other than garlands I'm nto sure what I can do. Anyone up for making me an end of the bed granny throw for garlands or wonky quilt squares? Anyone? Happy New Year!

My camera lens was in repair so it took me forever to take photos of the january bed. This bed for the new year is loaded with blankets as it has been chilly here in central California. It probably doesn't help that we live in an uninsulated building with a sad wall heater. Thank goodness for a roof over our heads and lots of blankets! That nifty bedspread is a gift from Tara and it is quite dandy hanging out there with all the other bits of color. The New Year's stars were made from an empty box of cereal and that top pillowcase there is the flipside to this one made by me.

 For some reason, January is when I pull out the blue bedding. Perhaps it is media conditioning, I'm not sure but isn't it purdy? I also whipped up a New Year's noisemaker garland to keep things festive (almost anything can be jabbed with a needle and dangled from string). The mappity map up there is the fabric covered puzzle I made for the cover of Mixtape in 2010. Happy January!

better late than never: the january bed

i knew i needed to use a wee bit of flannel and since i used the polka dots last month, that left me with the brown snowflakes. i also wanted to use the quilt that mr. a-go-go made because all them little bits of yellow add some cheer for possible gray days. but when i got it all put together there was just too much blue and a too much blah so i whipped up some felty flowers for a punch of color and added a wee yellow quilt to the foot and ta-da! now it's happy. happy january! how have you made YOUR bed?*yup, skully gully now has a friend though mister hasn't named it yet...we're nothing if not at odds with our decor.
