I tried to copy a starbucks drink

Have you tried the Starbucks Golden Ginger Drink? It's so good! Sweet, gingery, and refreshing. I've been pining for it but not enough to go to Starbucks (ours is open, is yours?) for it. We had an open carton of coconut milk from making pancakes and I had a ginger root in the fridge, and some frozen pineapple in the freezer, and an enormous container of turmeric in the pantry so I thought, why not?

I got the spice right. My version had a lot of zip to it. It wasn't very sweet, which I liked, but it did not quite make it to Starbucks status. I have no recipe for you, just those ingredients up top. Go ahead and try it! I'm going to keep working at it.

puzzle number four? five?

Okay, I lied. I found a stack of puzzles we have not done so I'm good for another week. My order from Galison is still not here as it seems puzzles have gone the way of flour and toilet paper. Another one of those, who would have thunk it pandemic staples. There's only so many shows you can binge watch, right? Thank goodness I'm still able to work  even though it is exhausting and I'm not certain is it really conducive to a preschooler's needs but at least we're connecting on zoom and spending time with books and songs. I am exhausted planning and making videos with my co-teacher and we're just building a rhythmic day for our parents and preschoolers. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be for teachers working on multiple academic subjects.

what gets me through the day

Seriously, these robin's malted milk eggs are my joy right now. Even the blue ones, which I generally am not a fan of as they turn my mouth blue and yes, I am an almost fifty-year old woman but everything is bonkers right now and I want my malted milk eggs. Some people have wine, I have holiday whoppers.

covid baking adventure:

Baking goodness part two. I baked up this super easy apple cake from Dinner at the Zoo. While it does use an entire stick of butter, it only uses one cup of flour. I generally only use one apple for the top. This recipe has a crisp topped with a lovely buttery cake center. If feels a little wet from all the liquid the apples release, but it is so good! Make sure your toothpick is dry when you test it for doneness. Test it right smack dab in the middle too. I love this with coffee. The mister eats a tiny slice in one bite. I think it could be good as a gluten-free cake too if that's what hops your frog.

another puzzle down

I forgot I had this one. I got it at Homegoods or Ross or somewhere like that. It's lovely. The pieces feel good and it's easy, but still challenging enough you don't finish it in an hour. The bowls came out again, worked like a charm!
