birthday getaway: the digs

Our destination for the evening was The Farmer's Daughter in Los Angeles. It is conveniently located across the street from one of the most populated and frequented outdoor malls ever (and one of my most favorite places...The Original Farmer's Market). We however, loaded with mojito fixings, sugar, salt and flicks never found a reason to leave the room. It was pajama time!

I kinda guessed where we would be sleeping for the night, but I had no idea it would be decked out a la jek with fun paper confetti, paper lanterns and all sorts of lovely treatiness. My girls are sneaky that way.

There was also a plan as there usually is, not that we got to it that night but there were bags and bags of yarn in crazy jek colors and a handful of crochet hooks just itching to be used. Girlie-o number two even got a head start on a bunch of grannies that paid tribute to the gorgeous blanket I pinned to my birthday board.

Instead, we embraced the booze, the cheese, the bread, the chocolate and settled in for more jibber-jabber and a viewing of one of my favorite flicks before getting our forty winks, nestled between the covers of the king-sized bed.

this morning

there is much static in the air. so much so that my hair is sticking to my face as it floats away from my shoulders and up to the ceiling like a balloon that has lost its weight.

today i have a second interview that involves crawling around the floor with a bunch of toddlers. after that i have to travel three towns south to pick up an inhaler that i paid for but somehow never actually made it into my bag.

while i am thrilled with this second interview there is a first i am still hoping to get. cross your fingers, cross your toes and cross your eyes for me. 

i also have this song stuck in my head. as it is a catchy tune i do not mind...too much. but now i have a craving for pudding. go figure. 

birthday getaway: thrifting & food

mr. a-go-go and I finally ventured south to Los Angeles for a week long belated birthday and anniversary holiday. While he headed out to explore sand dunes, my girls whisked me away for a girlie weekend. Whoo-hoo!

We began the day with coffee (of course) and pastries (of course, of course) and I was presented with a list of 40 jumps which we were to attempt to leap in honor of little ol' moi. My ladies so adorably explained that each jump was inspired by me. After reading the list, I quickly grew very embarrassed and tickled all at the same time. I am complicated like that.

Eschewing the Japanese dollar store for the magic thrift, we jumped into the birthday car a-go-go and traveled far across our great city in search of nifty finds and jibber-jabber as we are wont to do. 

Fanciful quilts and gorgeous sweaters seemed to be the theme and after we managed to stuffy-stuff the whole kit and caboodle into the birthday car a-go-go it was time for food.

Back-tracking to whence we started, we found our way to my favorite banh mi place and enjoyed an impromptu picnic in the park atop one of the fanciful quilts. Next stop a wander through America-ville to see the pretties at Anthropologie while girlie-o number one ran "errands" (chortle. heehee. giggle. giggle). It didn't take long and soon we were on our way to pick her up for the next installment of the birthday bonanza which involved all sorts of secret whispering between girlie-os one and two. shop update: dillydilly packs of pretty

i made up some dilly-riffic packs of green for you march loving friends. in the shop now and there is no shipping on these pretties! happy march!

in lalaland

the mister & i have been in los angeles all week and won't return home until next. there has been visiting and good eats and all around swell times. thrift shops have been shopped at and shopped at and shopped at. yay for pink wool sweaters and happy vintage sheets! Target has been visited um...twice and i managed to create a much needed craft epiphany for a very important, exciting and slightly overwhelming undertaking. more about that  later, stay tuned. other than all them swell times, i did get to have a most excellent face to face meeting with this dazzling craft writer extraordinaire. can we say instant connection? swoon!

i haven't been taking pictures like i usually do but here is a smidge of the sights we have sighted. next up, a much needed and highly anticipated belated birthday weekend with my two favorite ladies. i. cannot. wait!

today was for jumping

after all, it IS our sixth (wah?) anniversary. oh, and happy read across america day!
