The Week in Review: January 7-13

This has been a crazy busy week! There was a bit of crafting, a bit of sewing, a visit with a friend, a visit or two the the YMCA, with work stuff, school stuff and life stuff shuffled in amongst the rest.I am one tired lobster-girl!

We (okay, the husbandman) did some work on the car to make it all healthy like so that it doesn't fail us on our mini road trip coming up. I squeezed in a couple of trips to the YMCA (thank you workout buddy!), a walk around the 'hood, a visit to the library, a long walk around the Rose Bowl and a bit of housework amongst crafting, sewing, working and cooking. I made real meals this week and...I baked last night. Brownies, from a mix but I doctored them up to a level of extra tastiness that even wowed myself!

This week is more school stuff, work stuff, craft stuff and swap stuff! I hope I can manage to take more pictures this week! Happy Week two of 2008!

Happy Friday

I wake up in the middle of the night with ideas on what to blog about and then I fall back to sleep only to wake up with my mind blank. Good going, jek. Hey, lookie, I got some new fabric!

This morning I was up before the sunrise, why you may ask? Well my friends, I have taken a step forward and tried out a yoga class. Lucky for me I have a yoga buddy in Jenny and I'm sure she'll say the same thing about this class. It kicked our arses! The instructor is awesome. Even though we were newbies, not only to the class but to yoga, she was super swell, taking a moment here and there to assist us in our versions of downward dog and happy baby. Everyone else moved as one, so hopefully Jenny and I will not be deterred and become pros just like them. I'm mostly banking on my muscle memory. Seven hours later I'm just now starting to feel a superior kind of ache in my stomach, chest, arms, wrists, fingers...at least my legs feel somewhat normal.

The Week in Review: December 31-January 6

I don;t know how I managed to forget to post yesterday and I woke up early this morning with a rant about sleeping on my ears but I'll spare you the details! The first week of 2008 was not much different than th normal days of 2007. There was laziness, cooking, baking and visiting. Let's hope the year keeps up at a not too busy pace! Well, I must head off for a trek around the Rose Bowl. Happy January!

Photobooth Friday: A New Year!

A wee bit o back patting...

and possibly some eye-rolling from those that think I am over the top. I have to admit, even with the knowledge of possible eye rolling, I am still quite proud of myself.

I did NOT by the cherries! See, I love cherries, lurve them actually. They are, after apples and watermelon and ahem, strawberries, they are my favorite fruit. Okay, maybe my second favorite seasonal fruit, no wait, third, I lurve tangerines more. See, our sunny California supermarkets are selling cherries from Chile and they are cheap. They are also quite pretty and not mushy and my fingers itched, itched, itched to grab a couple of pounds to enjoy but I am trying to enjoy the fruits in season locally and so I thought about it and realized my inner fruit clock didn't want cherries. It is too dark and chilly out and cherries must be consumed out in the garden on a summer eve when the sun is still slowly creeping it's way across the sky. They must be consumed when my feet are covered in mulch because I was careless with my flip flops and who knows where I kicked them off last. They must be consumed while sitting on a creaky, swingy porch swing next to the mister as he gently plays his ukulele. They must be consumed while we a-go-gos are groggy from summer naps and slightly stinking of too much sunscreen. That is how cherries MUST be consumed. So I didn't buy them. Instead, I came home and picked a smiling, happy bowlful of satsumas from the garden. These satsumas will be consumed while I sit on the sofa wrapped up in a blanket, watching old movies from the library.

The Year in Review: 2007

It was a busy, productive, successful, fun and nifty kind of year. I craft, craft, crafted away, made new friends and rediscovered old ones. We a-go-gos did a tiny bit o' travel and exploring and I entered my newest stage of learning and am on my way to finishing up my degree! Go me! I hoe you all had a most nifty 2007 and I can't wait to see what 2008 has in store for us!
