photobooth friday: feeling the lurve

How fabulously wonderful was it that I found myself in a photobooth with Photobooth Friday's creator and many times around most fabulous lady, Andrea of Hula Seventy? And mind you, it wasn't just any booth, it was THE booth at the Ace Hotel. And I got to be in it...with Hula! You lovely folks keep asking me about Portland and I promise you, you will read more about Portland than you can probably care to but I want to start first with this most momentous event. I have been crushing on Ms. Hula for years now, simply crushing on her big time. When the mister & I were planning the trip and he was asking me about what I wanted to do it suddenly hit me that we were going to Portland and Hula lives in Portland! I got all stammery and blushy and told him, I have to meet her. HAVE TO! I nervously sent her a message playing it all cool but really I was dorking out ridiculously. Emails were bantered back and forth and plans were made. There would be no question that a booth would be involved.Life has a way of mixing things up. Plans get juggled and jiggled and disco'ed on but eventually things work out in the end. Our original plan didn't happen. I'm happy to say I am pleased it didn't. If it had worked out we wouldn't have been able to adventure around downtown with the fabulous .Le Silly, but that is a story for another time. What did happen was a most delightful breakfast with most of the Hula family assembled. The mister & I arrived first at our breakfast get-together destination and sure enough I was feeling the jitters of a first date coming on. I needn't had worried. Hula's mister was the first one through the door and with a beam of a smile and a nonchalant wave it was like we had always been old friends. Much chatting and talking and laughing danced around us and of course the cameras made a show. SHhe is as delightful as delightful can be. A woman I adore who's smile, energy and talents swirl all around her. She's quite nice as well, just in case you were wondering.I was swoonier than swoony over the beauty that is Hula's polaroid. I soaked up as much Hula knowledge as I could and have of course been converted.

Once we realized time was getting the best of us, we mini caravaned downtown for our boothing excursion. The misters patiently (oh so patiently) waited in cars as we spilled ourselves into the magic booth. and of course, we both drew a blank. What to do? What to do? Nerves I tell ya, nerves got the best of me and I felt much like Cindy Brady in that episode where she gets to go on tv and ends up mesmerized by the red light. Dork! If only we had more time. We stretched it out as long as we could and I am admittedly jealous of Hula's frames. Mine are great but hers are delightfully great. After a bit more hamming it up for the camera and giggles and fits over our girly antics, we squeezed each other to oblivion and the visit was suddenly over. We'll be back though. We will and I'm hoping I can entice them all to a California visit sometime next year. We've got booths too, ya know! Happy Photobooth Friday!

photobooth friday: vroom vroom

a girl and her slinky
This shot is from a strip taken back in 2000...maybe 2001. Oh how I loved that shirt! I had three sleeveless motorcycle t's that I wore daily it seemed. There was this one here and then the same shirt but in red and then another black one with a flaming motorcycle. Yep, flaming...I was so cool. They were made out of some funky blend that felt like tights and they wadded up tiny and oh but I wish I still had at least one of them. It would prolly fit me as some sort of scary belly baring cropped throwback...that wouldn't be too keen but I would still be a rebel in it...

Photobooth Friday: More March Challenge

photobooth friday: BALLOONS!

is it cheating if I took the picture years and years ago? Here I am in 2003 with a bunch of balloons for the mister's birthday strip. i had three balloons that I crammed in the tiny booth along with myself and the frames basically all looked like this...perhaps I pulled one down and then had a staticky head. I can't remember. All I know is that this was for the mister's first birthday with me and we're about to celebrate our fifth...whoo-hoo!

photobooth friday: faceless in mary-janes

march challenge: my mary janes
For the March challenge I dug though my box o' strips and pulled this one out. It was taken seven or eight years ago and I wish I still had those shoes. I'm known for my fondness of the strappiness that is a mary jane. There was a time when I had more than nine pair I think. Some of them got too worn to worn out, others I threw away in a fit of purging. I wish I still had them. there were stacked plumb mary janes, blue fuzzy leopard print, black & white zebra striped, clownish reds and even a pair of linen pink ballet flats. Sometimes I'd like to think I am evolving into a more rounded person and maybe I am, I just want to be in happy, strappy shoes.

Photobooth Friday: Playing Tourist

photobooth friday: playing touristWednesday was spent traipsing about Hollywood Blvd with a fellow flickr fiend. We played it up and hammed it up complete with cameras, terry visors and a trip to the photobooth. Laughter, guffaws and laying the street happened. It was a perfect day for seeing the sites. Maude bless the photobooth!

Photobooth Friday: Fits & Giggles

photobooth friday: the giggles
This is the best kind of remembering. It was only a month or so ago but the day was filled with all kinds of ooey goodness. We walked, we talked, we boothed, we wore fake mustaches, we posed in forbidden sculptures, we were patrons of the arts and we made some healthy choices. We also laughed. A bunch. To new friends! *mwah*

Photobooth Friday: Masked

photobooth friday: late
Acck. Can I wear a mask and hide all day today? I let myself sleep, and sleep, and sleep and I didn't wake up until 10am and I haven't done that in awhile and I feel like I've missed the whole day. I know. I can be quite the drama queen. Normally I am up by 7am at the latest and all I can think of is three hours wasted in sleep. I can't even remember if my dreams were good or not. Yesterday was the most unproductive day ever and now today I am late, late, late! Hey, lookie like the white rabbit! That's me up there in a rabbit mask...so very, very late!

This strip was taken a week after Thanksgiving at Pull My Daisy. It was a day of laughter and babes as the Mama Bird and the Birdie Babe came out to play with me. We walked and talked and lunched it up not to mention the boothing. Friends are a fabulous thing and that makes me happy.

Photobooth Friday: Keepin' it (sur)Real

photobooth friday: culturedPhotobooths are great even when it's just you but throw a friend in the mix and it kicks it up a notch. Throw a couple of mustaches in and yer headed for an asthma attack from all the laughing! Click on the pic for more info about the day.

I just have to say, I Love Me a Photo Booth!

Photobooth Friday: family time

photobooth friday: kids again
Click on the pic to read more about the adventure. I was thinking about how Thanksgiving is coming up and how our small family is so spread out it is difficult to coordinate all the holidays, ya know? My sister lives out of state and I wish she could come for one of the holidays and the mister's other sister lives three hours away and has another wacky family to deal with so we do what we can. We're having an impromptu-not-really-kinda-sorta Thanksgiving dinner this weekend which will probably be soup and salad or something. Okay, it isn't really a holiday to-do but we do get to see the boy a-go-go and his mom which will be nice. I need to make sure I pack up whatever I need to finish for Felt Club so that I don't completely freak out and fall apart! I have school all day tomorrow so this is going to be an interesting weekend. I'm still on the mend so much tea and pond nutrients will be absorbed! All I have left to do is the fabric bags for the games, game pieces to be cut, game baskets to be altered and some scarves to be whipped up...that's all...and of course everything needs to be organized...eeps!

Photobooth Friday: nnnnnnnnnmmmmmm

photobooth friday: we're doing that tongue thing Taken at Grill whilst we were road travelin' vacationers. Mr. A-go-go is very fond of using his tongue as a prop. I think we can easily find a common them in some of our photobooth pics. This was taken before the strip that got eaten and I think the colors came out pretty nicely. they never scan in too well but it's a booth, what do ya expect?

Well folks, it's early and it's chilly and I have a lot of crafting to do, so hop on over to the Photobooth Friday pool to check out some more strips. I'm off to piuck up some polkadot ribbon, washers & flannel.
