we went to a shindig

mr. a-go-go and i do not know many people up here. being ever-so-slightly introverted, childless, old, and dorky makes it a leetle bit difficult but we make do. it helps that we enjoy each others company. that said, the few people i have met and and utterly adore just happen to be folks who connected with me through my blog and flickr. flickr! remember flickr? one of my local flickr friends got hitched so mr. a-go-go and i did our best to clean up and be social. it was a lot of fun and the happy couple throw a mean shindig...just saying. yay for parties! i did not bring my rebel but i did bring an old iphone that i use purely as a mini jukebox and a camera to capture some of the happy little details.

can you tell there was a little bit of scrumdilly involved? it was super windy but still, everything was simple and pretty.

i may have mixed up a number of arnold palmers. i used to think they were over-the-top smarmy lemonades but now that i am an old fogey i quite like them. p.s. everyone knows that drinks served from enormous mason jars are better anyway.

we were seated at the flickr table and met some super cool people who gamely chatted with us about our fondness of L.A. eats. made us miss L.A.

it was super windy and the weather waffled between shivering and warm. cold drinks were downed and then i may have parked myself at the coffee table when the coffee came out. our hosts chose cupcakes for the cake portion of the ceremony and good lord i need to learn how to make a salted chocolate caramel cupcake, yum!
so we did it. us dorky a-go-gos stepped out of our comfort zones to gussy up as best we could to honor a favorite person's big day and we survived. we even had fun and yes, we danced a little too!

making paper chains

When Miss Za proclaimed she wanted a Black Apple birthday party, the Za Ma and I went giddy with old fashioned excitement. With pie in our eyes and vintage prints dancing in our heads we plotted to create a most vintagey bit of birthday lovely. The first step was choosing a color palette. Once the Za Ma chirped up with the vintage inspired colors...black, red and pale blue; I got to paper shopping, chain making and perhaps a stitched up yo-yo or two.

With the help of a paper cutter, the mister chopped up the pretty bits all nice and even. Leave me alone with a pair of scissors and paper needing cutting, I'll snip, snip away but it won't be anywhere near even. After setting up something to watch on Netflix, I settled on the floor with a handful of clothespins and a small bottle of tacky glue and got to gluing. It wasn't long before I abandoned the glue and hunted out the stapler. Not as pretty but it sure made the work go quickly. I ended up with two long, long chains. Perfect for decorating a happy Black apple inspired paper doll party.

what is it about pink?

this past weekend was the great pink-a-palooza for the young miss za. her fifth pink party was a japanese tea themed party (with, um...a castle bounce house). here's a sneak peek at all the prettiness. keep an eye out on the adventures of ander and zaza for more detail. we may even talk about it on the 'do as it was just that purdy.

Super Drats!

How bummed am I that I missed out on the super duper fabulousness that was the CRAFT:06 release party? I was hope, hope, hoping to be able to squeeze it in, alas, granny needed me and the mister was sick and I had birthday pizza to eat up with a birthday gal and friends. Why is it always all the good stuff comes on one day? Anyway, if I had been able to go I would have made fun monsters with all these nifty folks. The Los Angeles party was held at one of my favorite emporiums for nifty gifts and handmade items, handmade Galleries. It looks like everyone had a blast and I am going to do my best to make it to the next release! Maybe I should volunteer, that way I have to be there! Release parties were held in a couple more cool places! check out the flickr pool for pics from them all.
