While this kinda makes me feel like a substitute teacher, I really like this and weirdly, I really like it with the top tucked in.  Go figure. Maybe I am growing up after all.

I felt way cooler in this than the photo implies. My hair does not look snappy nor spiff and the shorty boots look weirdly missing...an awful photo really...at least I hope the photo is awful and that I don't really present myself this way. Wither way, this was comfy and I felt spunky even if the photo kinda suckity-sucks.

One more day and it is a bit of a let down. Can you guess what I wore?

Enough with the grainy, right? I'm not sure what's going on but my fancy-pants camera seems to be failing me in semi-low light. Drats! The old lady top is back and faded quite a bit after its first wash. I still love it though. It is silly comfy and quirky and only slightly old ladyish. The linen skirt totally works and I paired it with my linenish grey flats that I failed to take a picture of. The uke is just there cuz the mister made it and it is nifty and I was tired of just stannding there. A model I am not.

Another hot day. The red turned bergundy top is a great top for warmer weather. I like the fit and the fabric and now thanks to a dipping in black dye, the color. I was not in love with my hair and thankfully it was not a work day so I clippity-clipped it to high heaven and tied a bandana around the whole thing which lasted the smidgiest of smidges as the back of my head is stupid flat and all headbands just slide right off. Wheeeeee!

Still loving the jeans though I think my love affair with these Reese's hearts is adding to a snuggier fit. I can't believe I had not paired this top with the jeans before...and did you notice I did wear the same outfit twice save for the shoes? Allergies will make a girl forget, I blame them.

 I realized that my picks could go more than 14 days and so I went for 20! Here ya go! I dug out my saddle shoes for a bit of happy that did not last very long as the tops of these shoes irritate the crap out of my feet. But they sure look happy, don't they?

 This photo makes my skin look ridiculously smooth. I did not edit it in any way so yay for late afternoon light and shadows! Same lipstick I have been wearing all month.

Day 14 was warm still but I pulled out the linen sweater anyway and paired it with a tan top that makes i look as if I were baring the belly...a weirdly khaki toned belly. Add a funky 80s pant-leg fold and saddle shoes and you have quintessential jek.

 Day 15 was a skirt day...with pettipants underneath and black flats to keep it simple. I really, really love the versatility of this skirt!

And while it may look like I have just crammed a Reese's heart in my mouth, I have not. I do not know what it is I am doing and I wish I would just stop already but taking photos of yourself with a time when you are feeling all frumpified and hot makes you grumpy and so you only take three shots and say to heck with it.

Five more days, can you handle it? I could probably get a bunch more outfits out of the whole shebang but I'm tired of taking pictures of myself and just want to wear pajama bottoms all day already. I need to get a remote for the camera that works. And I need to find  better place for taking pictures...

the great capsule wardrobe adventure: days 12 & 13

This heatwave is still going strong and I had kiddos to wrangle so jeans and short sleeves it was. The mornings are kooky cool and the afternoons are hot. It's nuts! It was even colder and hotter the next day!

 

I layered up the smock and went for it, industrial old lady shoes and all. The morning temperature around 9am was 48 degrees and the afternoon hit 80something...absolutely nutty.

going for the wardrobe dream; items 6 and 7

So this crazy layered mis-matched print look is something I have been striving for even before we left L.A. I'm not sure I am pulling it off in person but the photos work and make me happy but maybe that's just the lipstick talking.

Here I am all garden girl upped with stripes and checks and bloomers exposed. It pleases me more than it should maybe....nah. Tomorrow (today really) is the last day and with the heat I am going to be hard pressed to pull of style but I will try. I will probably end up in either 1 and 5 or 10 and 11...or maybe I will extend it a day and do both...

we interrupt the adventure...

...to show you the surprise ball I made for the nephew a-go-go! I have a large jar (okay fine, I have many large jars) full of nifty that I have been holding onto specifically to make surprise balls. It's still packed up but what with the nephew's birthday here and all of the surprise ball fun on the internet I thought this would be perfect for the oddball assortment of martian stuff we had for him.

the great capsule wardrobe adventure: days 10 and 11

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this winter has been funky! Our temps were the highest in the nation! Here, in little old SLO where last year at this time I was cold, cold, cold! Or chilly at least. Long sleeved weather at least. I think.

sunny day delight; items 8 and 6

It was a birthday day and it was warm. I pulled out the smock and paired it up with the black t-shirt as the other tops were in the laundry and we're now officially in a drought so I need to be extra mindful of our water usage (we're already silly mindful but you can always improve on mindfulness, methinks). I wore my grey leggings which I also wore with the linen skirt on day six.

The skirt of the smock kept sticking to my leggings....ah static...so I popped on my old lady petti-pants and went for it. They remind me of my old cotton split slip I wore with all my dress back in high school now more than two decades ago. Eeps!

A wee bit on the boring side; items 1 and 11

On Sunday I had a work meeting and knew it would be hot so I went for the comfy shirt that was finally washed. I was feeling blah and all dirty-haired so paired this ensemble with my happy orange flats. Meh.

Ho-hum...I'm getting tired of the too-warm January...and my hair. My hair is not playing nice. I've been trying to replicate the hair fabulousness from day 7 but so far it ain't happened. Tomorrow will prolly be a smock day...maybe I will pair it with the skirt too!
