so we wandered through a little sculpture garden, posed for a bench monday and hit up starbucks for something cold to drink.
not fifteen minutes later we were back out in the garden and flabbergasted to find a car had flipped over and crashed in our absence...right where we were admiring an enormous bronze horse. yikes!
back in the car we hopped and promptly got caught in the snafu that is dallas rush hour, no worries though. we made it to frisco and got sno-cones. thank you joy!
goodness, what a week! we drove and drove and drove and managed to occupy three states at one point or an other. on monday we left arizona for new mexico where we hit the gila national forest to visit the cliff dwellings of the mogollon people. then we drove onwards to texas with an overnight stay in el paso (it was kinda ick). after el paso we hit marfa and camped out at el cosmico for two nights. neat place! from there we drove the long long stretch across texas to austin where i got to meet some of my most favorite flickr peeps. if yer wanting to follow along for the ride, you can read more about our visits at the blog, add our facebook page to your favorites or check out all the pics from the road trip collection...next stop, oklahoma!

i got a little snap happy in tara's craftroom. tara anderson is a nifty paper artist & photographer and has been a flickr friend of mine for a few years now. i've perused heretsy shop many times and have favorited oodles of her pictures on flickr.
tara's home in cave creek was our first weekend stop on the BIG road trip and we had a delightful time. it was almost as if we hadn't just met in person. the pressure was on for us crafty gals to make something and after two nights of chatting till midnight we finally did manage to make something.
before we got there, mr. a-go-go & i made things for the kidlets...
and then finally, after good eats, lots of talking, a wee bit of thrifting and many slight giggle fits over mr. a-go-go playing barbies with tara's daughter we got a photo taken.

goodness! we had wind, cold, and rain even. we drove through a swarm of bees, saw the grand canyon and met our first flickr family and made some new friends. i wonder what this next week is going to bring us?
i may be a crafty nut but i assure you i did NOT make this project while on the road...check it out over on craft, makes a great baby shower gift!
only this was a planned collision. as you may or may not know, mr. a-go-go & i are on the road for the next few months. we're wandering about north america in our trusty old rav, rodney. so far we have camped in joshua tree, crash landed in the town of williams, arizona (when we discovered temps would be too cold for camping), walked for miles along the southern rim of the grand canyon, drove through fat raindrops to the red red rocks of sedona where we camped at a place we called stinkbutt. we hiked a mini trail at midgely bridge, jumped up and down at slide rock (also in sedona), crafted ourselves silly in a starbucks with no wifi (drats), and ate pancakes with cranberries cooked in a tiny skillet over a tiny camp stove.
after driving for hours and hours we finally dragged our tired and slightly stinkified bodies up the walk to my first flickr meet up of the trip. and secretly i have to say i was quite nervous but i shouldn't have been. with a ring of the doorbell we were soon greeted and hugged by one of my flickr/blogger idols, tara anderson. tara is sweeter than sweet and kicky as kicky can be. she is an amazing cook, a crafty goddess and the most gracious hostess i have ever encountered. 
i know what i said but it turned out that i actually did take photos and do a few things and had internet access, so there! happy may! we are moments away from hitting the road, first stop camping in joshua tree and then we're off to the grand canyon, i am so freaking excited (and scared and nervous and twitterpated and...and...and...)!
